From roadtrip to local business

It all started in January 2020, when we set off on an adventure in our Chevrolet Express, which we had completely converted (with a lot of help from Virginia's dad Rick). 

The idea: a skiing and climbing trip across the United States, with no return date.

But like all good vanlife stories... nothing went according to plan - and that's what changed everything.

Skiing... in the Mexican sun

After several weeks on the road and in the snow, we decided to make a surprise detour to Mexico, where some friends were on a climbing trip. We were supposed to stay a week. In the end, we stayed for a month.

And why? Because of Pancho, a little stray dog we met on the spot. We couldn't leave him behind. So we went through the whole process of adopting him and bringing him home with us. That's when vanlife took an unexpected turn.

The pandemic, a hasty return and a new beginning

Deep in the mountains of California, the pandemic struck. We had to return to Quebec sooner than expected. And since we no longer had an apartment (thanks Pancho), we decided to settle in the Laurentians, to be closer to nature and the great outdoors.

Alex returned to work as an engineer. Virginie, for her part, began converting vans. After two complete projects, one thing kept coming up: it was almost impossible to find suitable and effective insulating curtains.

Sewing a solution

Since childhood, Virginie has always been accustomed to using the sewing machine, especially to create costumes or modify garments. When she started out fitting out vans, she was the one who made her insulating curtains. Then, friends working on their own conversions asked her to make some for them. That's when she realized there was a real need in the community. 

That's where Overnight Van Supplies was born: out of a concrete need, personal know-how, and a desire to create quality products, thought up by people who really live vanlife.

Three months later, Alexandre left his engineering job to devote himself full-time to the company. Since then, we've been working together to offer durable, well-designed products made right here in Quebec.

What we do, and why we do it

At Overnight Van Supplies, we don't just sell accessories for vans. We offer practical solutions so that people can enjoy their vans as comfortably as possible, all year round, whatever the weather.

We focus on quality, functionality and ease of installation, because we know what it's like to live on the road, sleep in icy parking lots or seek a little privacy in the middle of downtown.

The road continues

Today, we continue to develop new products, always with the same philosophy: by vanlifers, for vanlifers. We're proud to contribute, in our own way, to your freedom on four wheels.
